From 2001 to 2003, Knight made the Taxonomes series in which he designed an algorithm to guide the creation of his paintings, removing the burden of aesthetic choice from his process. Shown here was the fourth work in the series, along with drawings that document the rules and guidelines that were instructive to its creation.
