Maria Hupfield, Increase Flow Shoe Installation with Instructions, 2016
Inspired by Alison Knowles's The House of Dust and Fluxus (meaning “flow”), this work maked use of handmade tactile performance items, audience participation, and movement while remaining accountable to Indigenous cultural knowledge and peoples today. In Hupfield’s words, this work focused on “the body as the original computer, embodying what it means to be in good relations with place.” Items were activated by the artist on Friday October 14th as part of a live performance entitled Flow.
