Peter Jellitsch’s project was organized around the notion of the “cloud”: invisible electromagnetic signals that are present and active in the environment. Jellitsch surveys wifi and telephone waves, and microwave radiation existing in his studio and in the exhibition space. Fragments of Knowles’ poem as well as these invisible architectures made of waves and digital data are retranscribed by Jellitsch into notes installed in the exhibition space. There are two types of “clouds” that he thus makes perceptible: those stemming from wireless signals present in the exhibition space, and those emerging from the imaginary clouds deriving from Alison Knowles’ poem, itself generated by a digital program.
