Portable Structures for Potential Gatherings
2017, 4 cm x 244 cm x 366 cm x 250 cm
Wood, plastic, corkboard, paper

Ramiro Guerreiro responds to the way in which the architecture of Alison Knowles was constantly subjugated to a variety of forms and uses in New York and Los Angeles. He proposes four structures, mobile angles which when brought together create the schematic form of a house. These elements are covered with materials borrowed from the poem (wood, plastic and paper) and can be separated and organized according to different configurations defined in scores to be interpreted by the spectators. These structures have the capacity to influence the space and the artworks around them. The choice of their placement may give rise to negotiations and debates amongst the different actors of the exhibition. Moreover, Ramiro Guerreiro also allows the curators and other artists to use them for the creation of temporary spaces for events.
